Title: Shared Solitude--Epilogue
Rating: Mainly PG-13, with the occasional Very Bad Swear Word
Complete with 9 chapters, 20,000+ words
Summary: Post-Shared Solitude; Draco and Hermione, several months after their first real kiss, take an afternoon jaunt into the forest. And also smut.

Author's Note: You could read this as a stand-alone fic for the shag-value alone, but I think it makes more sense and is more enjoyable if you read "Shared Solitude" first.

The story has officially finished, but to fulfill the original request, a very smutty epilogue is to follow in another day or two. Keep an eye out for that!

Title: That Life
Author: heatherlayne_n
Pairing/Characters: Elizabeth/Will, kinda Elizabeth/Jack?
Word Count: approx. 1,150
Rating: PG-ish
Genre: General, sadness
Summary: PirateChallenge #10 = Challenge #3 = A swordfight featuring something precious and something torn.
Disclaimer: Nothing you recognize belongs to me, nor am I making any money off this.
Spoilers: Through DMC. (Honestly, who hasn't seen it who's wanted to by now?)
Warnings: Mild swearing
Notes: Please forgive me for errors with swords, ships, etc. I didn't have time to look any of this up, as it was written in under an hour. I was running around all day and didn't sit down to write until right before the deadline.

Title: Bit of Shiny
Author: heatherlayne_n
Pairing/Characters: Norrington, bit of Jack, mention of Elizabeth
Word Count: approx. 1,260
Rating: PG-ish
Genre: Angst, general
Summary: Challenge #9 = "There is nothing more dangerous than a man who has lost everything" -- Norrington comes to a conclusion and decides where his loyalties lie.
Disclaimer: I don't own anything you recognize. Like duh.
Spoilers: Through DMC
Warnings: The sexiness of Scruffington may be too much for pregnant women or people with heart conditions. ;)
Notes: This changed on me so many times, so I hope it still makes sense. My muse occasionally just leads me around by the nose and I have no choice but to follow. Continuation of Ball and Chain.
Special Thanks: To scifiroots who kindly beta'd this story. She rocks in so many ways! Also: thanks to everyone whose fics I've been reading lately; the juices are flowing, so to speak, and I can't stop thinking about this 'verse! If you recognize any ideas or characterizations in this piece or any of my others, please just be flattered and don't think I'm stealing your stuff. More likely that not, I'm doing it unconsciously, and if I am indeed taking off from someone else's story or ideas, I will do my best to give them credit.

Title: The Very Image
Author: heatherlayne_n
Pairing/Characters: Weatherby Swann
Word Count: approx. 900
Rating: PG
Genre: General, angst-ish
Summary: Challenge #8 for piratechallenge = Minor character(s) and superstition/revelation/hidden -- Weatherby Swann muses on the death of his wife and the future of his daughter.
Disclaimer: I screwed around all evening looking at other PotC fanart and fanfic, but I wanted to get this up in time for the challenge, so I had two hours in which to do it, total. Consider yourselves warned, heh.
Spoilers: None, really. It could be taken as happening in a couple of different times in either of the movies.

Title: Ball and Chain
Pairing/Characters: Jack/Elizabeth, sort of Norrington/Elizabeth
Word Count: Approx. 1,300
Rating: PG-13 for innuendo and language
Genre: Snark, humour, bit of angst
Summary: Challenge = The opportune moment, an argument, a lost item and a kiss. Not necessarily in that order. -- Jack unwittingly tricks Elizabeth into doing something she'll later regret, but it sure was awfully fun to write. There might possibly be more from a different perspective of the same night.
Disclaimer: Do I really have to say it?
Spoilers: Through DMC
Warnings: Uh... pirates? Beware!
Notes: My first ever PotC fic. Constructive criticism is welcome, especially on plot (I've only seen DMC once) and characterization (as I'm still "learning" them all). I know the end's a little iffy, but I'm getting the hang of things. I hope.

Ball and ChainCollapse )

Half and half with water makes milk. From a tray at the end of the counter she takes five cubes of sample banana bread. Coffee's a dollar twenty. A handful of sugar packets tumbles into her purse for later, then she settles happily at a window table. Breakfast with a book lasts two hours.

((This took me half a bloody hour to write.))

It's his own private sandbox to play in while he waits with Mommy. Their bus still hasn't come, so he sifts through with grubby fingers, placing pieces of brown and green glass in a pile by his feet. There's a penny. Lots of cigarette butts.

"Jordan!" Mommy yanks his sleeve. "Get out of that ashtray!"

She sipped from the straw of her caramel macchiatto frappuccino and watched as he poured lukewarm half and half into his coffee. It swirled and expanded like a flock of white birds flying against the night. "I love you," she whispered.

He frowned at her cream cheese danish. "You going to eat that?" he asked.

Fifty-five words. Theoretically I'll write one of these a day. Fifty-five words isn't much. But they've got to mean something, every one. Hopefully, though, it'll only take me a few minutes a day. Hopefully I'll come up with a few I like now and then. Hopefully it'll be fun.

LJ should have a word counter.
